hen last we spoke about Project Lexa, we introduced you to the project with an overview of its gameplay and setting. Today, we’d like to give a different look by introducing the eclectic cast of characters that you’ll be exploring this world with!
Their story starts aboard the Galactic Naval Vessel Chanticleer, a small starship used for envoy missions. The Chanticleer is tasked with checking in on a distant planetary colony that hasn’t made contact since making landfall. Not knowing what to expect, the Chanticleer’s superiors have sent the ship equipped with its standard crew: a captain, a weapons specialist, an engineer, a medic, a communicator, and a robotic assistant.
Let’s meet them now!
Lex Kelza
Project Lexa’s protagonist and player character, Lex Kelza, is the newest addition to the Chanticleer’s crew. In the world of Project Lexa, she is what’s known as an “interface specialist” — a person who specializes in the usage and maintenance of communication devices as well as facilitating diplomatic communications between planetary representatives across the galactic frontier.
Lex usually isn’t seen without her trusty tablet that allows her to interface with any machine as well as attempt to translate any language she comes across. This is her first planetside assignment after a previous mission went poorly, leaving her unsure of her abilities as a communicator and diplomat. Hopefully this mission will go a whole lot smoother…
Clarke Jansky
Clarke Jansky is the ship’s assigned engineer. He’s a techno-whiz who’s worked on space ships, space stations, and space-everywhere in between. His happy-go-lucky attitude has been buoyed ever since an unfortunate mechanical incident took his arm. Nowadays, he’s a bit more nervous, but he still finds himself cracking a joke or two when the situation calls for it.
Seric Boltzmann
Boisterous and friendly, Seric Boltzmann isn’t exactly what you’d expect from a seasoned weapons officer. He loves to jest and be pals with everyone on the ship, except the assigned M.A.R.C. unit. But what brings him the most joy is armaments, weaponry, and proving he’s still the best marksman on the Chanticleer’s firing range.
Mo Babbitt
Mo Babbitt, the Chanticleer’s no-nonsense medical officer, has a stellar service record from serving on several ships. However, she has no patience for inanity, which makes this current deployment especially difficult with Boltzmann aboard. She chooses then to spend most of her time in the ship’s medbay, prepping for the mission ahead.
Billon Maddox
Captain Billon Maddox is the Chanticleer’s active commander. Reserved and cautious, Maddox began as a navigation specialist but quickly rose up through the ranks — mostly by avoiding ruffling his superiors’ feathers — which earned him his current position commanding his own ship. He’s been a longtime friend of Boltzmann’s since their time at academy together, though this does cause Boltzmann to forget the chain of command when they’re on-assignment. Maybe this time will be different?
M.A.R.C.
The Multitool Armament for Robotic Consultation, also known as M.A.R.C., is the ship’s assigned robotic assistant. The M.A.R.C. line is known for their helpful if not overly peppy default demeanor. They are able to assist in a multitude of tasks, from navigational to clerical to janitorial, depending on the need.
We’re excited to show you this glimpse of the Project Lexa crew, which we’ve all grown attached to as we’ve continued to work on the game. It’s been a great time bringing this group to life as we build out puzzles and cutscenes, watching their personalities shine through in everything we make!
